Announcing the EVC List

The Emerging VC List, produced by the Emerging VC Association (EVCA), is a curated list of the top rising stars in venture capital at the pre-partner and partner-levels. Produced in partnership with SVB and Terra Nova, the list is compiled after extensive quantitative and qualitative review of investment track record, reference calls, nominations submitted by founders and senior partners, and input from a panel of top senior investors from the leading VC firms.

Finalists are honored with a special Napa retreat and recognition as one of the top investors in their category.

SEE 2022's FINALISTS!

Overview & Qualification

To qualify for the pre-partner list, investors must have the title, or equivalent, of analyst, associate, vice president or principal.

To qualify for the partner list, investors must have been a partner for 3 years or less and either: were a principal or vice president, prior to becoming partner OR became partner within 8 years of completing their undergraduate degree.

Note: Emerging fund managers (i.e. GP & MD titles) do not qualify for the partner list. They will qualify for a separate list we will launch in the coming months.

Behind the Ranking

The EVC List is created from analyzing a variety of public data sources, reviewing applicant submissions, judges' feedback, reference calls and nominations from senior partners (MDs & GPs) and founders.

A data-driven list, we attribute points based on deals sourced and diligenced and if the investor has a board observer or director position.

Once we have calculated the investor’s deal attribution score, we apply a weighting that takes into account the stage of investor, their time in venture, and the multiple on valuation markup for their current portfolio and exited portfolio.

We place a premium on realized exits over unrealized.
